(KGNS) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed the first case of New World screwworm in south Texas during a press conference Wednesday, June 3, following analysis of a sample at the USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa.

According to authorities, the case was registered in La Pryor, Texas.
