A new state law is changing the rules and the price tag for every food truck in Texas.

Under House Bill 2488, starting in June 2026, all existing mobile food trucks that serve food, drinks and ice cream must apply for a new permit through the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Mobile food businesses will be able to operate anywhere in Texas without additional permits.
