NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County commissioners took their first step toward increasing public involvement as work begins to move forward on a new county jail.
On Thursday, commissioners approved a measure to begin identifying members for a Citizens Informative Committee, which will focus on the jail's construction project."This is to complement what this court did prior to the bond election," County Judge Chris Bentley said, noting that the committee will educate the community on the current status of the jail and its needs.
Bentley said the committee will also bring community feedback to the Commissioners Court through public meetings and other outreach.
