WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Stacy Allen says one of the most important things her father, Judge George Allen, taught her and her brother, David, was to always put family and friends first and to not take life too seriously.

That pretty much sums up the joyous life and distinguished career of one of McLennan County's longest-serving judges, as his family and legions of friends mourn his death at age 89.

The retired judge died Friday evening at his Waco home, with his family by his side.
