WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The My35 construction project through Waco is about a year and a half in, and TxDOT says the most disruptive change is still to come: a major traffic shift next year that will move all drivers onto newly built northbound lanes.

The long-term goal is to improve safety and congestion along Interstate 35 by widening the highway from six to eight lanes, rebuilding frontage roads, realigning ramps and replacing the Valley Mills Drive crossover with a diverging diamond intersection, TxDOT Public Information Officer Jake Smith said.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2029.
