The Comal County Sheriff's Office renewed its contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Sept. 3, to hold federal detainees in the county jail until they are transported to an immigration center.

The agreement for the 2025-2026 fiscal year ended in August, and according to contract closeout documents, ICE de-obligated $29,200 of the contract's total $30,000 value.

The agreement stated ICE would pay Comal County $100 per bed per day, and the renewed contract will maintain the same rate.
