TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The East Texas Oil Museum plans to spotlight one native East Texan whose military service placed him at the epicenter of one of the world's most significant events.

The exhibit "One Texan's Improbable and Unimaginable Journey: Albert 'Pappy' DeHart's Best-Worst Seat in History" chronicles the life of Albert "Pappy" DeHart, a Jacksonville native raised in Marshall.

During World War II, DeHart served with the 509th Composite Group, a secretive unit responsible for carrying out the atomic bomb missions in Japan in August 1945."This exhibit tells the story of an ordinary East Texas man whose life intersected with extraordinary events," Angela Turner, manager of the East Texas Oil Museum, said.
