TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The City of Tyler is accepting applications for residents to serve on its boards and commissions for those looking to give back to their city.

Lori Stimpson-Arteaga, who grew up on the city's northside, said she plans to seek appointment to the Disabilities Review Board and Planning and Zoning Commission."Our city is changing," she said Tuesday.

"We have a high percentage of retirees, but we also have what we call a hidden population that's increasing here for the blind and visually impaired." She said that many businesses meet mobility standards but lack Braille signage or large-print menus, and that digital-only menus can exclude patrons with vision loss.
