TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Tyler man is behind bars after Smith County deputies said he rammed multiple vehicles and tried to rob a gas station in Smith County.

Jackie Lafayette Gitchuway, 64, was held Saturday at the Smith County Jail on bonds totaling $250,000 for four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and charges of robbery, driving while intoxicated and a parole violation, according to jail records.

On Thursday, two Smith County deputies responded to a deadly conduct call that began at the intersection of County Road 496 and County Road 492.
