TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - An East Texas nonprofit is expanding access to naloxone that can reverse opioid overdoses as local emergency room visits remain high in Gregg and Smith counties.

SocialWorx Advocacy Group founder Samantha Megaw said recent statistics from the East Texas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse showed Gregg and Smith counties are "at the highest rates" for opioid-related ER visits.

Commonly known as its brand name Narcan, Megaw said naloxone saves lives."It gives you time," she said.
