TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - With 13 years in the industry, Dee Martin of Dee Martin Realty Group (RE/MAX Alight) describes today's real estate climate as one of the most unusual of her career.

She says this is driven by an affordability squeeze from roughly 6. 8 percent mortgage rates, surging texas insurance premiums, and wider inflation that has left buyers hesitant."It's hard for people who maybe are a first time home buyer or just people in general," Martin said.

"You have to be able to afford that payment. And so when the all the other taxes, insurance and your mortgage is high, the interest rate is high, it just makes it less affordable. So we don't see a lot of buyers moving in the market right now, which is very different. I mean, I've been doing this for 13 years, and this is kind of the weirdest market I've ever seen in the last couple of years."
