KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - After 21 years of serving Kilgore, the city's longtime police chief, Todd Hunter, submitted a notice to retire effective Jan. 31, 2027.

The Kilgore City Council accepted the notice Tuesday at its monthly meeting.

Assistant Chief Johnathan Gage is expected to be his successor, according to a press release.
