HOWE, Texas (KXII) - Howe is building its own water resource recovery facility after relying on Sherman to treat its wastewater since the 1960s."I think it was in 1968 whenever the city of Howe and the city of Sherman came to an agreement where we started sending our wastewater to the city of Sherman," said Karla McDonald, Howe mayor.

Construction is underway on a new facility that will allow the city to treat its wastewater locally.

The first phase is expected to be complete within 12 months."We're going to be able to grow, and we're going to have a lot more commercial that is going to come to our community, which brings tax dollars to the city to repair the roads that all the citizens want repaired," McDonald said.$50 million investmentBVRT II is investing $25 million in the facility, with an additional $10 million for infrastructure upgrades.
