NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - SFA is getting a touch of the blues as the university's Micky Elliot College of Fine Arts has announced the lineup for its 2026-27 University Series, themed "A Season in Harmony."The upcoming season will feature a diverse blend of national acts ranging from Chicago blues to comedy to retro holiday shows and interactive magic.
The lineup kicks off Sept. 24 with Austin-based blues act The Fabulous Thunderbirds, known for their 1986 hit "Tuff Enuff," in "A Tribute to Chicago Blues."Retro holiday performances follow, featuring Will Hearn's "Grand Ol' Christmas Show" on Nov. 21 and Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Christie Dashiell collaborating with SFA Choirs on Dec. 5.
Comedian Pete Lee plans to bring the laughs into the new year as he takes the stage Jan. 29, followed by "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" house band regular Jon Lampley on Feb. 26. Magician Zak Mirz, once a semifinalist on "America's Got Talent" and a winner of "Penn & Teller: Fool Us," will close the series on April 24."It's an honor to be able to bring these incredible acts to our community," said Dr. Gary Wurtz, dean of the college.
