KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - A building at 1002 Medical Drive in Killeen that has previously served as a daycare, nursing home and overnight shelter for teens is being repurposed into a new homeless shelter for the city.
Armor of God Outreach founder JT Haun is working to open the shelter after the Killeen City Council voted to fund the current shelter, Friends in Crisis, only through the end of the year.
After that, Friends in Crisis wants to refocus its efforts, using its beds only for its veteran and domestic violence programs and no longer serving the general homeless population.
