GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) - GAINESVILLE, Texas - Shovels hit the ground Thursday at the site of the Camp Howze Industrial Rail Park, a 480-acre development just off Interstate 35 in northwest Gainesville."This has been a 20-year plus vision for this community - to have a rail park that would help diversify our economy, bring new industry, provide jobs, and bring new tax base," said Gainesville Mayor Tommy Moore.

The park is designed to attract manufacturers and businesses that ship freight by rail.

It sits directly on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe mainline with room for 55 railcars to load and unload on site.
