That hearing has never been held.

KWTX informed 54th State District Judge Susan Kelly and McLennan County District Attorney Josh Tetens in May 2025 that the state's highest criminal court in February 2021 ordered a hearing for Ibarra, who has spent almost 30 years on death row and is among the longest-serving death row inmates.
