The future of Moss Creek Lake remains uncertain following its recent closure, with city leaders and nearby residents raising concerns about safety, maintenance, and long-term management of the popular recreation area.
The issue took center stage during Thursday's Parks and Recreation Board meeting, where Public Works Director Shane Bowles said the decision to shut down the lake ahead of the Independence Day holiday came down to safety and limited resources.
"It was a safety necessity," Bowles said, noting that maintaining the property with current staffing levels had become increasingly difficult.
