The Lady Texans had just enough to fend off Tivy in an early District 27-4A volleyball showdown Tuesday, when Wimberley won an epic battle, 25-23, 25-23, 27-25, to remain perfect in district (3-0) while Tivy suffered its first league loss to fall to 2-1. "It was a hard-fought battle on every point," Tivy coach Stephane Coates said.

"We had them beat. Our serve-and-pass game was off, though." Wimberley had 12 aces compared with Tivy's six.

Kills leader for Tivy was Jilian Stebbins with nine.
