WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Bellmead man who pleaded guilty in March to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2023 was placed on deferred probation for 10 years and fined $1,000 Friday.

Judge Thomas West of Waco's 19th State District Court granted Jacob Walter Counts' request for deferred probation during a sentencing hearing Friday.

The McLennan County District Attorney's Office recommended the deferred probation sentence in exchange for Counts' guilty plea to the first-degree felony.
