The New Braunfels City Council approved a resolution authorizing the use of eminent domain for New Braunfels Utilities to acquire a permanent utility easement of 0. 74 acres from The Villa Rio Subdivision.

The easement will support the replacement of the Rio Bar Screen, which currently conveys water flows from the North Kuehler Interceptor and the IH-35 Interceptor to the Rio Lift Station, NBU Director of Engineering Mike Short said.

The land serves as a recreational river access point for the residents of The Villa Rio neighborhood, NBU Real Estate Manager Bruce Haby said.
