LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A Lubbock business hosted a test run and adoption event Saturday afternoon, aimed at giving visitors a glimpse of its feline theme and a chance to adopt shelter animals from the South Plains SPCA."Critical Whiskers," a cat-themed hobby shop, hosted the mixed event at its storefront near 50th and Avenue W. The one-day partnership with the SPSPCA served as a test run for its indoor "cat lounge" and showcased cats and kittens from the shelter who were up for adoption.

At least half a dozen adoptions were processed there, with more applications submitted for other animals.

AutoplayWhen it fully opens, aimed for late next week, the lounge will allow visitors to make reservations to play games or simply spend time with shelter animals in a controlled environment with volunteers from the SPSPCA.
