GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas (KXII) - Days after Gov. Greg Abbott paused new data center growth for review, companies including OpenAI, Meta and Oracle agreed to comply with new state regulations.

The new regulations require data center companies to pay for their own power grid infrastructure, limit noise near neighborhoods and recycle the water they use.

Grayson County Judge Bruce Dawsey said the regulations do not address all of the issues data centers pose to local communities."It would be helpful if they would give some regulation authority to cities and counties so that we would have a say as to where these places would go and not just a checklist from the state," Dawsey said.
