LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Angelina County Jail has secured inmate housing agreements with four surrounding counties following the completion of a $14 million expansion in January 2026.

The Angelina County Sheriff's Office now has agreements with Trinity, Polk, Tyler, and Newton counties to house their inmates at the Angelina County Jail.

Sheriff Selman said a fifth agreement with Nacogdoches County is also in the works.
