The Uvalde Leader-News captured its second Texas Press Association sweepstakes title June 20, earning seven first-place awards and 13 overall honors in the 2025 Texas Better Newspaper Contest.

The sweepstakes award, the second in the newspaper's history, recognizes cumulative performance across multiple categories.

The newspaper previously earned sweepstakes honors in 2023 for its 2022 coverage.
