AUSTIN, Texas - Texas is giving anglers a day off from the paperwork this weekend.

The annual Free Fishing Day returns to public waterways across the state on Saturday, June 6, allowing both Texans and out-of-state visitors to cast a line without a fishing license.

The event, held each year on the first Saturday in June, is designed to lower the barrier to entry for new and occasional fishers while giving experienced anglers a reason to bring someone new to the water.
