Cailloux Theater hosts usher thanks and recruitment party

The Cailloux Theater in downtown Kerrville hosted an appreciation gathering Sunday afternoon to honor members of its volunteer ushering team. The event, held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 20, welcomed both active volunteers and those considering joining the corps.

Theater management designed the afternoon as an expression of gratitude to the ushers who work behind the scenes at every performance. The gathering also provided prospective volunteers an opportunity to learn firsthand what the role entails and whether it might suit them.

Beyond their visible duties of seating guests and managing the occasional disagreement over assigned spots, ushers perform critical functions for theater operations. They communicate house policies to patrons and serve as the frontline of the venue's safety infrastructure. Their responsibilities include maintaining clear passageways throughout the auditorium, monitoring the building's numerous stairways for potential hazards, and standing prepared to respond swiftly if patrons suffer injuries or the theater requires evacuation.
