Rashee Rice Released from Jail After Serving Time for Probation Violation
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was released from the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday after serving a 30-day sentence for violating his probation. The former SMU football star had been on probation since 2024, stemming from a high-speed crash in Dallas that year. According to court records, Rice was taken into custody on May 19 after testing positive for marijuana, which violated the terms of his probation.
Rice's troubles began last July when he pleaded guilty to charges related to the car crash, including collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. As part of his plea deal, he received a 30-day jail sentence, which was set to be served within a five-year period of probation. [Fox 4 Dallas] reported that Rice's release from jail came after he ran from the scene and dove into an SUV.
Rice's recent run-in with the law is not his first brush with trouble. In March 2024, he was involved in a high-speed crash on U.S. Highway 75 North, also known as "The Tollway." [CBS DFW] noted that Rice had tested positive for THC
