A Houston-area clinic owner has been accused of orchestrating a massive Medicare and Tricare scam, with prosecutors claiming nearly $1 billion in fraudulent claims were submitted between October 2023 and April 2025. Marizel Yukee, the owner of Wound Medic clinics in Texas and other states, allegedly conspired with others to submit false claims for "medically unnecessary allografts," a type of tissue transplant.

Yukee's scheme was uncovered after investigators reviewed thousands of Medicare and Tricare claims submitted by her clinics. The indictment alleges that Yukee and her co-conspirators used fake or altered medical records to justify the submission of these claims, which were then paid out by the government programs. Meanwhile, a far-right influencer has been banned from entering Texas after being accused of making terroristic threats in a courtroom. Jake Lang was previously arrested on June 10 and had his bond reduced from $1 million to $250,000. As part of his potential release, he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.
