Governor issues disaster declaration ahead of severe weather

AUSTIN, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that he issued a disaster declaration for 101 Texas counties as severe storms continue to threaten the state. [KLTV Channel 7 News]

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared disaster in 101 counties, including several in East Texas, as severe storms continue to pose a threat to the state. The declaration, issued on Monday, aims to provide immediate support to affected areas and ensure local officials have access to necessary resources.

Abbott stated that Texas is prepared to respond to the ongoing severe weather threats, which are causing significant impact across the state due to ongoing storms and flood risks. The disaster declaration will help communities prepare for and recover from these events. Additional counties may be added to the declaration as conditions warrant.

The move comes as severe weather continues to affect parts of Texas, with multiple counties already impacted by flooding and other storm-related issues [KETK]. Abbott's decision is intended to provide critical support to affected areas and help mitigate the effects of the ongoing storms.
