ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) - Robinson Mayor Greg May is making public his position on a controversial topic ahead of next Tuesday's City Council vote, announcing he intends to vote against renewing the city's lease on its 11 Flock Safety cameras.

His announcement, posted to social media Friday, comes following a community discussion earlier in the week over automated license plate readers (ALPRs) in the city of 13,000.

While local law enforcement lauded the cameras as highly effective, May stated that tracking innocent citizens simply crosses a line."While Chief Adams has recently pointed out a positive drop in local crime during the time the Flock cameras have been in operation, we must evaluate whether permanent automated tracking aligns with values of our hometown," May said in his statement.
