The U.S. Department of Agriculture released 40 million sterilized New World screwworm flies across Texas the week of June 18, and planes used for fly dispersal made several stops at Garner Field Airport in Uvalde.

Between Texas and Mexico, the USDA releases about 100 million sterilized flies by aerial dispersal per week.
