TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A man was sentenced to 10 years probation and required to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to sexual assault of a minor in Smith County.

Maurese Emmanuel Johnson, 22, appeared in Judge Taylor Heaton's courtroom for sentencing Tuesday morning.

According to an arrest affidavit, Johnson was arrested on Jan. 22, after Department of Public Safety personnel found a Tyler police case file pertaining to Johnson while investigating a separate sexual assault of Johnson's victim.
