LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A citizen-led recycling task force has been created in Longview, with a mission to aid the city's curbside recycling programAustin Wade with Longview Recycles spoke to the Longview City Council on Thursday following the city's decision to keep their recycling service, despite many residents not participating in it.

"We should be doing more for our environment, not less," Wade said.

"When my friends and I heard that the city was voting on whether or not to continue the recycling program, we think it's just a really bad time to be taking a step backwards." The group's primary goal is to get the city's monthly diversion rate to 10% in one year from about 2%.
