BELLAIRE, Texas - Friday's varsity football game scheduled between Bellaire and Lamar high schools has been canceled due to confirmed cases of staph infection.

In a letter to parents, Bellaire High School principal Michael Niggli said there were confirmed cases of the infection among members of the school football team.

"The decision is based on guidance from the HISD Health and Medical Department and the Houston Health Department Epidemiology team," Niggli says in the letter.
