After smoke and flames erupted across multiple units at The Athena apartments in southwest Houston, a resident sprang into action, going door to door to alert and help neighbors escape.

Thick gray and white smoke billowed across the skyline as firefighters arrived at the complex on Forum Park Drive.

Roughly 10 units were engulfed, Houston Fire Department crews confirmed there were no injuries.
