(KGNS) - A 17-year-old faces human smuggling and drug charges after a hit-and-run crash involving a red van led officers to three migrants, according to the Laredo Police Department.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 26 near the intersection of U.S. 83 and Soria Drive, police said.

LPD said several people got out of the van following the crash and ran into nearby brush.
