Forecasters say expect a hurricane to form in the Gulf
The National Hurricane Center forecasts a tropical depression in the Gulf will strengthen into a hurricane with winds reaching 100 mph by Friday, October 9th, potentially impacting Texas.

A disturbance in the Gulf strengthened into a tropical depression, forecasters from the National Hurricane Center said on Oct. 6.
The system is forecast to quickly strengthen into a hurricane with 85 mph winds by the evening of Oct. 8, then briefly into a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 100 mph on Friday, Oct. 9. The next name on the list of storm names for 2026 is Isaias (pronounced ees-ah-EE-ahs).
