HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 2-year-old girl who was allegedly brutally beaten by her mother's boyfriend has died after spending less than a week in the hospital, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Jazmin Cisneros, 28, and Gerardo Gonzalez, 29, showed up at a Spring gas station the night of Aug. 6 seeking help for the girl, who was unresponsive.

After spending several days fighting for her life in the hospital, the sheriff's office shared the tragic update on Friday.
