CYPRESS, Texas - A 5-year-old girl died after a vehicle carrying five children was struck by gunfire Saturday night in Cypress, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. in the 11800 block of Grant Road as a mother drove westbound from Jones Road.

The girl was hit by gunfire and flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
