(KGNS) - Buckling your child into their car seat might feel routine, but safety experts say mistakes are far more common than most parents think.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows nearly half of all car seats - 46% - are installed or used incorrectly.

The safety risk is significant: in Texas last year, traffic crashes killed 69 children younger than 13 and left another 583 seriously injured.
