LACY LAKEVIEW, Texas (KWTX) - Beef prices have climbed to record highs, prompting some Texas barbecue restaurants to cut key menu items or even shutter their doors entirely.

But one local joint says "it isn't BBQ without the brisket." After a barbecue spot near Corpus Christi made headlines for dropping brisket, some diners in Central Texas may have wondered if local smokehouses might follow suit.

At Broken G BBQ in Lacy Lakeview, owner Anthony Walton offered a definitive answer: absolutely not."When it comes to BBQ, if you don't have brisket, you might as well shut down," Walton said.
