A friend recently sent me an article about small businesses that reminded me that behind our local storefronts, welcome signs and front desks that we often walk by are, literally, our neighbors.

There is a reason small towns like ours continue to produce remarkable businesses, thriving nonprofits, and communities that weather difficult times.

It isn't because they have the largest budgets or the newest technology.
