A Houston firefighter was taken to a local hospital after suffering a twisted ankle while crews battled an abandoned building fire late Saturday at a former school on Center Street.
Houston Fire Department crews were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. to the 3200 block of Center Street and arrived to find flames inside the structure.
Firefighters initially went in offensively, then later pulled back and switched to defensive operations.
