CLUTE, Texas (KTRK) -- The Clute police chief has resigned after city officials placed him on administrative leave.

On Thursday, the City of Clute officially accepted the resignation of now-former Chief of Police James Fitch, effective immediately.

City officials said they placed Fitch on administrative leave Wednesday for personal reasons and did not provide further details.
