SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - The city of Sherman is urging residents to submit public comments in support of a highway widening project on FM 1417 before a TxDOT open comment period closes Aug. 3.

The project, identified as Phase Two of an ongoing road improvement effort, would extend from Highway 56 to the high school.

It would add a lane in each direction, install a concrete median barrier, and build sidewalks along the corridor, which passes an academy and several daycare facilities.
