Thousands of Houston-area seniors will continue receiving hot meals and medical transportation after Houston City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a $6. 7 million contract renewal extending services through September 2027.

The vote keeps nine organizations in the greater Houston area funded and operating , buying the city time to complete new procurement while ensuring seniors who depend on daily services are not left without support.

What the contract covers The contract spans a network of nine service providers, including Baytown Meals on Wheels, BakerRipley, The Salvation Army, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, Northwest Assistance Ministries and the city of Jacinto City, La Porte and South Houston.
