BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Texas Department of Transportation says 20 people have died in crashes in the last two months across its 10-county Bryan District, accounting for one-quarter of all traffic deaths in the area this year.

From January through September, 78 fatal crashes were reported in Brazos, Burleson, Freestone, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, Walker and Washington counties, according to Deputy District Engineer Ashley Hill.

While Hill said fatalities are down compared to last year, the spike in the last 60 days is raising concerns.
