The Department of Justice will deploy election monitors to seven Texas counties on Tuesday as part of its largest voting oversight operation in U.S. history, federal officials announced.

What we know: The Texas deployment targets Bexar, Dallas, Harris, Waller, Blanco, Bowie, and Nueces counties as part of a nationwide initiative involving roughly 1,000 personnel deployed across all 50 states.

Coordinated by the department's Civil Rights Division, the oversight effort relies on personnel from the division, U.S. Attorney's Offices, and federal observers from the Office of Personnel Management.
