TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Rains County justice of the peace who is accused of making false statements while under oath in an official proceeding has been suspended from his position.

JP Robert Franklin has been suspended without pay after the State Commission on Judicial Conduct reviewed the indictment that had been handed up by a grand jury of the 8th Judicial District Court.

According to court records, Franklin said under oath that he had not participated in the purchase or sale of any property in court proceedings concerning Franklin's request to reduce his child-support obligation.
